Rusty play early on nearly ruined the season opener for the Falcons, but two strong innings saved the victory as the Falcons defeated Bradley Motors Shifters 21-18 on Wednesday night.

Three strong innings by the Shifters were only minorly mitigated by a first inning home run by Bird, as Bradley scored a six-pack in the first, and three-spots in the second and third, motoring out to an early 12-3 lead. Falcons bats were mostly silent until the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Falcons' fifth began with three quick hits by Senior, Million Dollar Bill and The Legend. That counted one run and turned the lineup over and brought SLF to the plate. On a 3-1 count, SLF sent the next pitch sailing over the left-centrefield fence for his first Trottable�* home run, and the Falcons were in flight. Two more home runs from Cashley (#YeahTeets) and Tank, and when it was all said and done, the Falcons put up a ten-spot in the fifth to take the lead.

Bradley quickly retook the lead in the top of the sixth, plating five to make the score 17-13. Undeterred, the Falcons exploded for eight more in the bottom of the sixth thanks to homer from Papa Bear, and doubles from Fo' Shizzle, Dinner and Million Dollar Bill for a lead they would not relinquish.

The Shifters ran out of gas in the top of the seventh, and could only muster a single run. Cashley shut the door to give the Falcons a well deserved come back victory, and make them 1-0 on the 2014 season.

* A Trottable home run is one that counts, therefore the hitter gets to trot around the bases, all the while smiling like a total doofus.

GAME NOTES: Even though the street lights were on, Dougothy was able to stay for chit-chat after the game... Where the hell is Mike?... Falcons pizza night is already stacking up to be a smorgasbord, thanks to a no-show by Goliath and a WHIFFTASTIC K by Cashley... Bird has decided to eschew "baseball bats" for his 60� wedge... Dougothy's role as "outfielder" has been deemed "temporary" and "emergency only"... Initial reports indicate that Falcons season ticket sales have doubled... Due to recent rule changes, a Porter Pizza Fine is being considered...
