assignment Falcons, Rabbits run wild in win over Mayhem

'Don't call me Dick' had 3 hits, including a 3-run bases clearing double as the Falcons beat Mayhem 22-5 on Monday night.The Falcons (1-0) won their season opener for the first time since 2010, their offence firing on all cylinders in the double digit victory. Mayhem (0-1), sporting new uniforms for the 2013 season, stumbled out of the gate and couldn't recover.
Early season defensive issues were evident, mostly due to outfield turf conditions. It was obvious that the team needs a few more games under the lights to get back in the zone.
The Falcons manufactured a single run in the first inning with singles by SLF (who eventually scored), Rookie #1 and Papa Bear. Three singles, two walks, and a three-bagger from Dinner in the second plated four more for the home team. After scoring 4 each in the third and fourth, the Falcons put up a nine-burger in the fifth to put this one to bed.
Game Notes:
Rabbits were witnessed running all over, around and through the field throughout the evening. One met an untimely demise after the game (who knew they could scream?)... With a 1-0 record, this marks the first time since the last day of the 2011 season that the Falcons have a winning record... Dinner was a dinger away from the cycle... Pitcher Cashley visited team doctor Dr. Timmy to have his face examined after taking a sharp roller to the noggin. Dr. Timmy punched Cashley in the nuts and asked, "Now does your face hurt?"... New jerseys are on order for new Falcons recruits Rich, Doug, Michael and Mike. This can't happen fast enough because Rookie #1 was spotted rocking a '77' jersey on Monday night and the very last thing this team needs is ANOTHER Junior.
