assignment Falcons Defence Wastes Ten Run Lead
Sunday 9:30PM July 7th, 2013
A seven run third inning gave the Falcons hope, and a three run fourth gave them a ten-run lead, but the Falcons defence once again let them down in an injury filled game two loss to Storm, 13-10.In what can only be described as a devastating turn of events, Cashley left the game in what was later diagnosed as a broken thumb (more on that later), and offensive powerhouse Our only friend finished the game on a noticeable limp.
After showing no signs of offensive live coming off the game one loss to Xtreme, the Falcons (11-6) took advantage of a long break between games to have a short BP session. Everyone looks good during BP, and looking good translated temporarily to playing good. The offence was absent for the first two innings, but a couple bursts in the following two innings gave the Falcons confidence. That confidence was quickly eliminated as the defence allowed nine runs in the bottom of the fourth, nearly erasing a double-digit lead.
More moping was evident, as the Falcons seemed to give up after that Storm outburst, and they didnt score another run. Dinner implored the team not to give up hope, as at that point they still had the lead, but obviously Dinner's speeches don't have the same impact as Dinner's wife's.
Injury Update: Team physician Dr. Timmy took some X-Rays of Cashley's sore digit, and diagnosed several cracks and breaks. Dr. Timmy recommends amputation of the limb at the shoulder, and a nut-ectomy for leaving the game with an injury to his NON-PITCHING HAND. Dr. Timmy then recommended Cashley look up Abbott, Jim.
Game Notes: The Falcons have lost four of their last five, and their last three straight road games A brief rain shower between games was not enough to lower the ambient temperature much, but more than enough to increase the humidity to nearly unbearable levels Spruce trees hide gloves very well The Falcons have put out a call to Dinners wife for a motivational pep-talk prior to Wednesdays crucial game at home versus the As The Falcons dropped both games of this doubleheader and didn't even earn any pizza fines to make it a bit easier to swallow...
