A slow start led to an explosive finish for the Falcons, who gritted out a victory over Bradley Motors Shifters 13-8 on Tuesday night at K2 Field at Maypo Yards.

Cold weather may have played a part in the beginning of this one, as the Falcons (21-9) went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first inning. The defence nearly held in the bottom half, allowing a hit, but inducing a fielder's choice for batter number 2. Unfortunately, the Shifters next hitter was Twitter Superstar @jimmo4life who crushed a two run shot just inside the right field foul pole. That shot was a wake up call for the pitching and defence, who got their heads out of their asses and held the Shifters to doughnuts after that, until the bottom of the sixth.

But it was the Falcons offence who needed a spark, and it didn�t arrive until the top of the fifth inning. The Falcons had only scored a single run up until that point, but the bats came alive. They scored a trey in the top of the fifth, six more in the sixth, and the insurance three-spot in the top of the seventh. Timely hitting by the Shifters put a bit of a scare into the fan base in the bottom of the seventh as they scored four, but the defence held and the Falcons walked away with a five run win.
