assignment Error Prone Falcons ClusterF&%# Their Way To Defeat
Tuesday 8:00PM August 27th, 2013
The Falcons snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, throwing this one away in the bottom of the seventh, resulting in an 18-17 loss to Bradley Motors on a rainy Wednesday night. The Falcons (26-10) jumped out to an early 6-2 lead after the top of the fourth inning. But typically as of late, they let the opposition overtake them, and had to play comeback. Bradley, playing with only 9 fielders due to league rules, were obviously well motivated for this game. They scored seven in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 9-6 lead.
The Falcons came screaming back in the top of the fifth with four more of their own. They held the Shifters to only a singleton in the bottom of the fifth and burst out again with seven in the top of the sixth to take a seemingly commanding lead.
But Bradley wouldnt give up. Error after error, and a lot of well-placed hits led to Bradley scoring five in the bottom of the sixth, to trail by only two.
The Falcons failed to score any insurance runs in the top of the seventh, and it was up to the normally solid defence to hold the slim lead.
The Falcons retired the first two hitters in order, and victory seemed comfortably at hand. Perhaps comfort led to sloppiness, but one infield error and another two in the outfield, and Bradley pulled this one out, rightfully celebrating as the winning run crossed the plate.
The Falcons will be scoreboard watching for the next week or so, as they have a six-day layoff before taking the field on the day after Labour Day at Direct-Town to face the Chuggers.
Game Notes: This games Falcons fans were imported from Fenway Park. They have been given a lesson in sportsmanship Where the hell did Papa Bear go?... No matter how hard car companies work, theyll never be able to outdo the ingenuity and ability of children to lock the keys inside the car.
