The Falcons squeaked out victory, their third in a row, with a slim 14-11 road win over the Rebels on Tuesday (not Wednesday) night at K2 Field at Maypo Yards.

Having just scored in the teens in the first inning of their last two games, the assembled crowd of two young fans were anxious to see if the Falcons could keep up that pace.

The short answer: No.

The slightly longer answer: Not a chance. The Rebels spectacular D held the Falcons to delicious doughnuts in the first two innings, something that hasn't been done to the Falcons since June 10th.

The floodgates cracked slightly in the top of the third, with Tank plating the Devils' Eric with an RBI single, then immediately followed by a three run moon-shot by reigning WMSPL MVP, Dinner. DK followed shortly with an RBI single of his own, and the Falcons took a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the third.

After a quiet 3rd for the Rebels, their bats woke up and they scored 11 runs over the next 3 innings to bring an 11-11 tie to the top of the seventh inning. If you've been following the Falcons 2015 season (and why wouldn't you?), you know the Falcons rarely see the 7th inning due to the bloody 85-minute time limit. It was time to see if the Falcons could stay awake long enough to finish a whole game.

Sacrifice flies by G3 and SLF, and capped off by a two-bagger from DK gave the Falcons a 14-11 lead going into the home half of the 7th. The D held firm, putting the Rebels away in order to preserve the victory.

Cycle Watch: The last time a Falcon hit for the cycle was May 19, 2010. It didn't happen today, either.

Game Notes: Big thanks to the Devils' Eric for filling out the line up... The fans brought pillows, and based on some performances the Falcons have put on this year, who can blame them... Eric the Red (Devil)'s whiff was visible from the parking lot, evidently (let's hope that bird was, too)... The Falcons infield was at the top of their game on this night, protecting the three-man outfield from any unnecessary exercise... That flavour in your Moosehead that you're not used to in the Coors? THAT'S HOPS!
