This recap is brought to you by stand-in reporter, Skinny Timmy. With both teams playing with short benches this game started out looking like it was going to be in contention to be the quickest game played in Falcon history. However it ended up being impacted by the damn time limit curfew...again. One could say both teams started off hot defensively for 2.5 innings or cold offensively...You choose.
Falcons scored two in their first by a typical Tank line drive homerun that took .3 seconds to clear the fence. With such a strong wind coming in from left field that was the only way to get the ball over. It remained a tight battle until the bottom of the 4th when the Falcons busted out for 10 runs with two out. Up to this point Skinny Teets was pitching a decent game and DK made some great plays at first. However, it didn't last as The Crushers put up a 9 spot in the top of the 5th when they scored runs with two out. Not sure why both teams could not get that final out?...I surmise that it was due to well placed hits because there were not any errors. The Falcons could only muster up one more run in the bottom of the 5th. The 6th inning started with the umpire calling last inning due to limited time remaining. The Crushers hit well again and put fear into The Falcons that they were going to blow the lead but manage to only score 5 runs. With only one minute remaining the game was called and The Falcons did not get to take their a bats in the bottom of the 6th. WMSPL rule #15 was applied reverting back to the 5th inning score of 19-13 and Coulas' 5 runs and one homerun were erased from memory.
Pregame Checklist:
Enough players to field a team?
Bats?
Scoresheet?
Cycle Watch: The last time a Falcon hit for the cycle was May 19, 2010. Tank only needed a triple. I'm sure ONE of those doubles he hit could have been stretched out, couldn't it?
Game Notes: Skinny Teets almost scored a field goal in right field with a monster HR but it gets recorded as an out..."What do you mean wind assisted? It was blowing straight in from left?" Big Cat Who? brought to you by DK. No porters as Dinner, DC and Mike were absent. Get your pizza! brought to you by Curtis' Dad.
