The Falcons got off their mini-schneid with a comfortable 17-13 victory over Coulas on Monday night.

With SLF making his season debut, that meant the Falcons' line up had a familiar taint. But, plot twist! After allowing Coulas a deuce in the top of the first inning, the top of the Falcons order did what they were supposed to do -- HIT! A Cowboy lead off triple, his first of the season, was followed by a Dr J RBI knock. Goliath, also playing for the first time in 2022, followed with a two-bagger and Grahambo's RBI single won the inning for the home side.

Coulas wouldn't quit, and began the second inning with the first five batters reaching base, scoring two to re-take the lead. Undaunted, the Falcons responded in the form of a Barry Guerrero Jr solo Duncan (a feat which will never be re-named).

While the Falcons defence held Coulas to delicious doughnuts the next two innings, the offence went on a hit parade. In the third, six hits (including 3 doubles) plated three, and in the fourth five more hits highlighted by Cowboy's second triple of the game scored five more.

The Coulas bats re-awakened in the 5th, scoring two on Andrew's two-run blast. In the Coulas 6th, team namesake Mike Coulas got in on the hot Duncan action, leading off the inning with a solo shot and Coulas ended up scoring 3.

But the Falcons kept the lead after taking it in the third, adding a few each inning, so that Coulas' last-ditch effort in the form of a 4-run seventh wasn't enough.

Game Notes: With the win, the Falcons begin the six-game counter towards free beer after the game... Coulas tripled the Falcons' home run output, 3-1... The league probably won't investigate separate plays at first base that appeared to be trying to take out both the league president, and (more importantly) Falcons sponsor Ace of Base himself.
