assignment Falcons Lose Fifth Straight

The Falcons fell behind early and never recovered – despite bringing the game tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning – losing 13-9 to Triple Play in game one of Sunday’s double header.Triple Play scored two in the top of the first, and though that’s not a huge number, their offence was consistent throughout the game. They scored in every inning but the second, and scored more than enough runs to win.
The Falcons on the other hand, scored in only 3 innings (highlighted by a MAX6 in the fourth), and just couldn’t really get anything going. Fifteen of their twenty-one outs were by catching fly balls, which is no way to beat a President’s Division team.
The lowest point of the night was right at the beginning of the game when it became a real reality that Iron Billy would NOT, in fact, make a miraculous appearance, ending his record-breaking streak of 190 Falcons games attended. RIP… Bill’s not dead, but the streak sure is.
Game notes: Whatever luck was brought by having Mason Dunn & friend do the base coaching in a previous Falcons-Triple Play matchup, it was absent tonight. Maybe if they left their phones on the bench?... With tremendous respect to Jose, it’s rather satisfying to the regular beer-league shlub to see such a talent pop up twice, take in-game BP to try to fix the problem, then pop up AGAIN. I guess no one is perfect.
