The Falcons were up by 13 runs after four inning and only managed a “moral victory” of “almost handing Storm their fourth loss” in a 19-19 tie to cap off Sunday’s doubleheader.

Unlike in game one, the Falcons’ offence was clicking right from the jump. Six hits to begin the game sandwiched a Grahambo sac fly to score 3 in the first, a Beatty moonshot highlighted a four-run second, a five-run two-out rally in the third, and another Beatty dinger highlighted a six-run fifth put the Falcons up 18-5 after four and a half innings.

Then the wheels fell off.

Storm’s offence finally woke up, as it tends to do. Five in the fifth narrowed the gap to 18-10. Four more in the sixth, to only a singleton for the visitors brought the score to 19-14.

In the seventh, the Falcons were looking to plate some much needed insurance runs because a five run lead isn’t safe against the WMSPL’s top team.

*Fart noise*, went SLF.

So it was to no one’s surprise that Storm did score 5 in the bottom of the seventh to salvage a tie in a game they probably should have lost. But Falcons gonna Falcon.


Game notes: Storm’s Duran was only a triple and a home run short of the cycle, including an FK and a pop-out to 2B…
