Reigning WMSPL MVP Richard Lee was taken to hospital after a bad hop on a terribly groomed infield hit him in the face in the bottom of the first inning in an eventual 23-8 Falcons victory.

The game was delayed for several minutes as Richard lay on the grass behind second base, not exactly motionless, but he wasn't doing cartwheels either. Barry Guerrero Jr, who hit the routine ground ball that should have resulted in a routine groundout, left the game to escort Richard to the Oshawa hospital ER, where he might actually still be waiting for treatment.

The injury occurred two batters into the bottom of the first inning, after Greenthumb had opened the scoring on a 3-run bomb by Slater. After Cowboy had somehow only singled to start the bottom half of the inning, Barry Guerrero Jr hit an innocent ground ball up the middle in a clear attempt to injure the pitcher, as Falcons do. The pitcher evaded the slow roller, and Richard ranged to his left to make the play. A really bad hop sent the ball straight up into his face with a sickening thump. Former WMSPL President Doom, officiating the game, immediately called time out, and Cowboy reluctantly decided not to take third on the play. Richard eventually walked off under his own power because it was a facial injury, not his legs. Barry missed a couple innings and a plate appearance because, as the scorecard describes it, "Barry gone for 2 innings for almost killing someone". On Greenthumb's side, Richard's absence was noted as "NEARLY DIED :(" (yes, including sad face emoticon).

After that, it doesn't seem appropriate to celebrate a well-played game by the home side. Briefly: 14 Falcons showed, for the first time in who-knows-how-long. Beatty hit a triple! Shohei is batting .833 after going 3-for-3, scoring three runs and driving in two. Skinner is knocking at the lead-off spot's door, and actually managed to pull a ball.

Game notes: The Falcons scored 23 runs without the benefit of a dinger... The dugout is oddly silent with no Poutine present, but Todd WAS there so you can't win 'em all... Homie to Poutine: "Sucker", for some reason... Greenthumb's roster has a "Rod" and a "Todd", so is only missing a "Ned" to complete the Flanders trifecta... Shohei's ERA skyrocketed in the top of the sixth inning likely due to confidence issues in the middle outfield backing him up. He switched to a proven strategy of "let them score so much we run out of time and have to revert".
